This is a 9am - NOON commitment only!
Before working, GFD will provide a brief orientation for all new volunteers. They will talk about poverty and hunger in Chicago, how the Food Depository functions, who they serve, and answer any questions you may have about our operation.
Then volunteers will spend the majority of the session repacking food in the warehouse. Volunteers must be able to stand for up to 90 minutes while doing some light lifting and bending.
GFD asks that each volunteer bring an item of canned or non-perishable food to donate. A list of most needed food items is available upon request.
GFD also encourages volunteers not to bring personal belongings to the facility; however, a limited number of lockers are available if needed.
